Vietnam 66-67 Have gone back on mission trips with Christian Vietnam Veterans. 98,2000,2005 The sights sounds and smells of Vietnam have not changed. The kids are still the same and the mama Sons accept us now. They still hold some real hate but overall they treat us better than we ever were treated after the war. I have many close friends over there now. From Doctors to kids who live by selling tourist items on the street. Taxi drivers Gov. Officials and the former Vice President of Vietnam. The lady who started the Viet Cong and who"s picture John Kerry shares in the war museum. Except she did not run and hide under fire. So why didn't you all tell me how fantastic it is to be a grandparent? 4 monthes old and I am honored to watch him two days a week. Yes I am sick.
No I watched my kids as babies while my wife worked and they survived....Expand for more
Don't ask them though. I have many old and new friends through the years. One thing is that even my few enemies trust me. They have told friends that. One man who I was honored to know was a old sargent who was a bum in the states. When we hit Nam he was the ultimate soldier. One night he told me I go bed now you guard duty. His broken english, his trust and his training gave me a lot to live up to. Sargent Sobrado was a Man who you probebly would not like. But he taught me many things about life that I never would have expected. And his trust gave me honor that I never deserved.
Seeing so many at the reunion was a great thing. So many who have worked hard and made a differance in this world. Allen Park was a great place to grow up and michigan is still my home. I am still a Yankee and proud. I hope all of you are as happy with your life as I am.
